Health outcomes for people living in rural and regional communities are poorer than their metropolitan counterparts. The population is ageing, chronic disease is on the rise and it is increasingly difficult to attract and maintain a skilled workforce outside of Melbourne. Adding to the mix, health services are required to do more with less.
This forum will bring together VHA members to discuss how public hospitals, community health services, aged care providers, local and state governments, and the community can work together to improve the health outcomes for those living in rural and regional areas.
